Falcon College Zimbabwe
c

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I’d like to share a few key updates from across the college. It’s been a productive and energising first half of the term, with meaningful progress made in several areas.

Campus Development

  • Solar Power Update:
Our solar system is now successfully generating power. Unfortunately, due to a few remaining administrative hurdles, it is not yet connected to our main system. We are actively working to resolve this red tape issue and hope to have it operational soon.
  • Astro Turf in Use:
The newly completed Astro Turf is now fully in use — and it’s been a true game changer for Falcon. The standard of play and opportunities for training have already seen a significant lift. A sincere thank you once again to the Rudland family for this exceptional contribution.
  • Borehole Installation:
The new boreholes are being equipped and should be fully operational before the end of this term. These will provide a more reliable and sustainable water supply across the campus.
  • Classroom Upgrades:
Refurbishment of our classrooms has been completed, and students are already enjoying the improved learning spaces.
  • Smart Technology:
We have installed 15 Smart TVs around the college to support interactive teaching and digital learning. The next step is to complete training for our teachers to maximise the use of this technology in the classroom.
  • New Sports Field:
The grass has established itself quite well on the new sports field and is progressing well and is on track to be in use for the Third Term.

Academic Progress

  • Afternoon Support Lessons:
We have welcomed three lecturers from NUST and the Teachers’ Training College to provide targeted academic support to our exam-year students. These sessions are held in the afternoons and are designed to help students who may be struggling. It is the responsibility of both the subject teacher and the tutor to ensure students are scheduled for sessions where needed.
  • Mock Examinations
Mock examinations are fast approaching. Please encourage your children to use their study time wisely and prepare thoroughly. This is an important opportunity to practice and identify areas that may need further attention ahead of the final exams.
  • Tutor Letters:
All parents should by now have received an introductory letter from your child’s tutor. If you have not received this, please get in touch with the college so we can ensure proper communication is in place.

Sport & Community

  • National Selections:
Congratulations to all our boys and girls who have been selected to represent Zimbabwe in their respective sporting disciplines. These achievements are a testament to their dedication and talent, and we are incredibly proud of them.
  • Litter
As a community, we take pride in keeping our school and its surroundings clean. If you are visiting to watch sport, please make use of the bins provided. Sundays can be particularly challenging for our students and staff when litter is left behind. Your support in helping us maintain a clean and respectful campus is greatly appreciated.
  • Falconians in the UK:
I was in the UK over the half-term weekend, meeting with Falconians and visiting other schools. It was a real pleasure to reconnect with our alumni — a deeply loyal group whose blood still runs very blue.
